Real Talk: Safety First
Buffalo is legendary because it's fun. It stops being fun the second someone feels pressured, unsafe, or uncomfortable. Don't be that person.
Someone says they're done? They're done.
No "just one more." No guilt trips. No calling them soft. Everyone drinks at their own pace. Buffalo is fun because it's social — not because it forces anyone to do anything.
Buffalo is always opt-in
You can only get Buffalo'd if you agreed to play. You can't draft someone into this game against their will. If they don't want to play, that's the end of the conversation. Move on.
Non-alcoholic drinks always count
Not drinking? You can still play. Water, soda, coffee — all fair game for Buffalo. The game is about the hand, not what's in it. Never make someone feel excluded for choosing not to drink.
The penalty is optional. Seriously.
Got Buffalo'd but don't want to chug? That's your call. The penalty makes the game fun, but it should never feel like an obligation. Good groups have lighter penalty options. Be a good group.
Know your local laws
Legal drinking age varies everywhere. This site is for adults of legal drinking age only. Know the rules where you are. We're not lawyers and this isn't legal advice — just common sense.
Look out for your people
Someone's had too much? Get them water. Get them a ride. Be there. The best Buffalo players know when to call "Buffalo" and when to call it a night. That's not weakness — that's the real game.
Drink responsibly. No exceptions.
